• Residents protest Manasota Key resort development (yoursun.com) — A controversial proposal to replace the storm-damaged Manasota Key Resort with a five‑story, 246‑room complex has residents worried about overdevelopment, infrastructure strain, and environmental impacts on the key. Protesters showed up at a Charlotte County Planning and Zoning Board meeting expecting discussion, only to learn the item wasn’t formally on the agenda yet. Officials say any future hearing will be clearly advertised before commissioners vote.
   

• Manasota Key homeowners denied seawall to save homes from erosion (mysuncoast.com) — Two Manasota Key beachfront homeowners have been denied permission by Sarasota County commissioners to build a seawall they say is urgently needed to slow erosion threatening their houses. The commission voted 3–2 against the project over concerns about impacts to neighboring properties and the beach. The owners, including one whose family has held the home for decades, are now pushing commissioners to reconsider.
