• Fort Myers man accused of stealing boat from Marathon found stranded in Everglades National Park (gulfcoastnewsnow.com) — A boat was reportedly stolen from a home on 85th Street in Marathon and later found beached in Everglades National Park, where authorities detained a Fort Myers man. Deputies say he’d been stranded for days but was not seriously hurt. He now faces a grand theft charge, with more charges possible.
   

• Mistrial declared in case of Florida Keys parasailing crash that killed tourist (orlandosentinel.com) — A federal judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a parasailing captain whose boat operated out of Marathon during a 2022 crash that killed a visiting mother and injured two children. Jurors couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict on manslaughter charges, and the case will be retried at a later date.
