The department has not announced further discipline, and the officer’s resignation letter did not address the incident.
   

• Melbourne woman accused of leaving two children in hot car while shopping (wftv.com) — Police say a Melbourne woman was arrested after two young children were found alone in a parked SUV outside the Walmart on North Wickham Road during a hot afternoon. Officers later stopped her vehicle nearby and cited her for child neglect and child-restraint violations after reviewing store surveillance footage.
