10-Foot Gator Blocks Traffic On FL Keys Highway: Trapper

A gator blocked a road in the FL Keys Monday evening, the sheriff said. A "Gator Boys" star even lent a hand in wrangling the angry reptile.

FLORIDA KEYS — A 10-foot alligator blocked traffic on a Florida Keys highway Monday evening, Pesky Critters Wildlife Control, which was called in to wrangle the reptile, wrote in an Instagram post. (Watch a video of trappers controlling and removing the angry gator here.)

The company's trappers were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. to mile marker 126 along the 18-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 1 that connects Florida City with Key Largo, the company said.

The gator blocked both northbound lanes of traffic for more than an hour as wildlife expert Todd Hardwick and his trappers and members of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office battled with the creature.
