2 Officers Injured, Accused Gunman Killed In Miami Shootout: Reports
"By the grace of God, they are alive today and able to return home to their families," Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie Daniels said.
MIAMI — A police probe erupted in gunfire Wednesday at Southwest 162nd Avenue, injuring two Miami-Dade police officers and killing the suspect, WPTV reported Thursday.
Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie V. Daniels confirmed the news in a brief statement released Thursday on Facebook. Daniels did not fully detail the shooting.
"Last night, while conducting an investigation, two of my officers were shot," she said in the statement. "This type of violence towards my officers will not be tolerated. By the grace of God, they are alive today and able to return home to their families."

USA Today reported Thursday the shooting happened around 10:15 p.m. at a Miami home.
Detective Alvaro Zabaleta told WPTV the gunfire happened after a man with a shotgun fired at officers who approached the front door, injuring a 35-year-old officer and a 57-year-old officer.

A 40-year-old officer was medically evaluated for an unknown reason following the shooting, USA Today reported.
The suspect, who was not identified, died at the scene, the outlet reported. The nature of the initial investigation is unknown.
