42-Year-Old Drowning Victim Pulled From Ocean

The victim was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

MIAMI BEACH, FL — A 42-year-old drowning victim was pulled from the ocean at 13 Street and the beach on Thursday night. The male victim was taken to Mt. Sinai hospital where he was pronounced dead. Miami Beach police had not yet released the name of the victim as of early Friday.

"PD responded to a 9-1-1 call from 13 Street beach at 7:14 p.m.," Ernesto Rodriguez of the Miami Beach Police Department told Patch. (Sign up for our free Daily Newsletters and Breaking News Alerts for the Miami Beach Patch.)

Rodriguez said that Miami Beach police officers used an Automated external defibrillator on the victim, which analyzes the heart rhythm and is capable of delivering an electrical shock if needed to restore a normal heart rhythm.

"He was transported with advanced life support," Rodriguez added. The victim was taken to Mount Sinai by first responders from the Miami Beach Fire Department.
