On Dec. 28, around 5 p.m., Marie asked the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, for a ride to her apartment on NW 69th Street. Once there, promising her husband wasn’t home, she convinced him to come upstairs, where he was confronted by Occius with a gun, police said.

The victim told police that both suspects tied him up and held him against his will for three days. During this time, they tortured him, demanded $50,000 cash and his car title, and made several threats to shoot him, police said.

They also forced the victim to say that he was cheating on his wife with Marie, which they recorded, and also recorded him while naked, according to the arrest affidavit.

He agreed to sign his car title over to them in exchange for his freedom on Dec. 30. They walked him to NW 71st Street, where they had parked his car, and coerced him to drink a bottle of what he thinks was a mixture of Haitian rum and bleach, police said.

He told investigators that he pretended to be drunk and laid back in the passenger seat, the arrest affidavit said. After about 20 minutes, the victim opened his eyes and didn’t see either suspect nearby. He ran for help, flagging down pedestrians to call 911.

Miami police and Miami Fire Rescue responded to the scene. He was brought to the University of Miami Hospital, where he remains for treatment, police said.
