Another National Retailer Closing 21 Florida Stores
Another national retailer has filed for bankruptcy and will close all 21 of its Florida stores.
FLORIDA — Jewelry and accessories retailer Charming Charlie has filed for bankruptcy and will close all of its 261 stores by the end of August, including 21 in Florida. The news marks another closing in what's been a rough year for national retailers with stores in Florida.
The company's websites shows store locations in:
- The Avenues, Jacksonville
- The Shops at Pembroke Gardens, Pembroke Pines
- The Florida Mall, Orlando
- Mercato, Naples
- Coconut Point, Estero
- The Village at Gulfstream Park, Hallandale Beach
- The Avenue Viera, Melbourne
- The Shops at Wiregrass, Wesley Chapel
- The Mall at Wellington Green, Wellington
- Delray Market Place, Delray Beach
- Westfield Brandon, Brandon
- Countryside Mall, Clearwater
- The Oaks Mall, Gainesville
- Altamonte Mall, Altamonte Springs
- Winter Garden Village, Winter Garden
- The Falls, Miami
- The Palms at Town and Country, Miami
- River City Marketplace, Jacksonville
- Promenade at Coconut Creek, Coconut Creek
- Pier Park, Panama City Beach
- Pointe Orlando, Orlando
The specialty retailer became known following its 2004 opening for grouping women's fashion accessories by color. However, recent times have proved tough for Charming Charlie and the retailer closed 100 locations last year, Dallas News reported.

The retailer said the decision to file for bankruptcy again was made "after the implementation of numerous cost-reduction measures" which failed to stabilize the business and ensure profitability.
Charming Charlie's announcement comes a month after it was revealed that Dressbarn is closing 30 locations in Florida and all 650 across the United States.
