A Miami woman faces charges after selling marijuana edibles to students ranging from 9 to 13 years old, police said.

MIAMI, FL — A 22-year-old Miami woman faces charges after selling marijuana edibles to middle- and elementary-school children, Miami Police Department said in a news release.

Thalia Aceves was charged with selling, delivering and possessing cannabis and contributing to the delinquency of a child, according to her arrest affidavit.

Officers and Miami Fire Rescue members were called to Citrus Grove middle and elementary schools Wednesday after multiple students suffered possible THC overdoses, police said.

Investigators learned that a student bought the marijuana edibles off campus and brought them to school and gave them to other students.

One of the victims told detectives they met Aceves through Instagram. Investigators, with permission from the student’s mother, used their cell phone to pose as the child and arrange a time to meet and sell them additional drugs.

Officers arrested Aceves when she showed up for their arranged meeting time, surrounding her car.

“A strong odor of raw cannabis was emitting from the vehicle,” according to the affidavit.

Arresting officers also saw a large, clear bag containing what they believed to be marijuana on the floor of the backseat, as well as suspected marijuana vape cartridges on the floor of the front passenger seat, police records show.

“The Miami Police Department will not tolerate anyone threatening the health and safety of our children,” Chief Manuel A. Morales said. “When detectives learned of an unscrupulous individual preying upon children, detectives acted quickly to ensure that the seller was held accountable.”
