Daniella Levine Cava Sworn In As Mayor On Tuesday

MIAMI, FL — Daniella Levine Cava was sworn in as the new mayor of Miami-Dade County in a social-distanced ceremony at the Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami on Tuesday afternoon.

Levine Cava defeated Esteban Bovo in a runoff election for the mayoral seat. In the Nov. 3 general election, she received 576,970 votes, representing about 54 percent of voters. Her opponent received 492,053 votes, which equals about 46 percent of voters.

Both Levine Cava and Bovo previously served as county commissioners. She represented District 8, while he held the District 13 seat. She served as a county commissioner from 2014 to 2020.
