"The goal of this checkpoint is to identify and apprehend impaired drivers before they can injure or kill others," according to Fallat. "As part of the national 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' safety campaign, the Miami Police Department will concentrate enforcement efforts on impaired driving through the Labor Day holiday. Miami Police joins law enforcement and highway safety agencies across the nation in order to remove impaired drivers from roadways and save lives."

Thursday's checkpoint will include representation from multiple law enforcement agencies in the City of Miami’s Coconut Grove NET Service Area. The effort is in conjunction with the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Arrive Alive," and “Border to Border Click It or Ticket” campaigns.
