Female UM Fan Takes Right Hook From Miami-Dade Officer
Miami-Dade police charged a 30-year-old nurse with battery and disorderly conduct but the incident is being reviewed by police supervisors.

MIAMI, FL — A 5 foot 5 inch nurse, who was knocked backward from a right hook by a Miami-Dade police officer during the University of Miami game on Saturday, has been charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct. Video of the incident was being reviewed by police supervisors on Sunday. The 142 pound UM fan could be seen slapping twice at the bald-headed officer before he threw the right.
The incident occurred during the Hurricanes victory over Virginia Tech on Saturday as 30-year-0ld Bridget Freitas was being carried out of Section 129 of Hard Rock Stadium for disorderly conduct.
“Promoting a safe and secure environment during any special event is our primary concern," Miami-Dade police said in a statement on Sunday. "After responding to a disturbance, the person in the video was being removed from the event by our officers for being disorderly. She was subsequently arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct/breach of the peace."

Miami-Dade police added that "supervisory personnel are aware of the video and are reviewing the incident to ensure compliance with our policies and procedures.”
Freitas of the 15600 block of NW 14th Court in Pembroke Pines, had been drinking, according to Miami-Dade police, who said she was arguing with other fans and "using profanity in a loud boisterous manner" before police acted to remove her. Court documents said Freitas allegedly sat on the stadium steps and refused to budge.

Miami-Dade police said they made several attempts to calm Freitas and get her to walk up the stairs to the concourse before opting to carry her.
When they did lift her, police said she swung at the officer while trying to free herself.
