FL Walmart Admits Employees Misused Khalil Mack's Donation
In December, Khalil Mack of the Chicago Bears donated $80,000 to pay off layaway bills at his hometown store in Fort Pierce, Florida.

FORT PIERCE, FL — A month after Chicago Bears linebacker Khalil Mack's foundation paid off 300 layaway tabs at a Florida Walmart store, the retail chain admitted that employees misused a chunk of his donation.
In December, the Walmart store in Mack's hometown of Fort Pierce, Florida, announced that the football player had generously paid off about $80,000 in layaway items for surprised customers.
It turns out about $20,000 of Mack's donation was misused by employees.

Since the layaway items totaled only $60,000, the store's management let employee either split the remaining $20,000 of Mack's donation among themselves or pay off their own gifts on layaway, WFLD reported.
This week, a Walmart spokesperson admitted employees misused the donations, according to TCPalm.

Walmart wouldn't say whether any employees were disciplined after the misuse came to light.
"We appreciate Khalil Mack's generosity in paying off layaway items for hundreds of customers in the Ft. Pierce community and are looking into how the store handled the transaction to ensure it was appropriate and in keeping with Walmart's guidelines," a spokesperson told WFLD.
