Habitat for Humanity of Broward Announces Executive Committee Leading Board of Directors

FORT LAUDERDALE (July 20, 2026) – Habitat for Humanity of Broward has announced its Executive Committee for the Board of Directors. Maria Menendez has been appointed Board Chair, Carlos Iafigliola as Vice Chair, Steve Palmer as Treasurer and Ray Berry as Secretary.

Menendez most recently served as Vice Chair after four years on Habitat Broward's Board of Directors. She succeeds Robert Taylor Jr. as Board Chair and will lead the organization as it continues expanding affordable homeownership opportunities and strengthening communities throughout Broward County.

Iafigliola most recently served as Secretary and now succeeds Menendez as Vice Chair. He has served on Habitat Broward's Board of Directors for the past three years, with Ray Berry, who has served on the Board of Directors for the past two years, assuming the role of Secretary.

Palmer will continue serving as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee, roles he has held for the past decade.

Together, the Executive Committee will help guide Habitat Broward's strategic efforts to expand affordable homeownership opportunities and address Broward County's growing workforce housing crisis.

Menendez has served as chief financial officer of GL Homes of Florida Holding Corporation and GL Financial Services since 2002. She brings more than three decades of leadership experience in finance, homebuilding, marketing and corporate strategy. She was recognized by Builder Magazine as one of “Home Building’s Most Powerful Women” and by Travel Agent Magazine as one of the “Most Powerful Women in Travel.” GL Homes and subsidiaries is the nation’s 30th largest builder based on revenue and the nation’s 13th largest private homebuilder. She received both her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in international business and her Bachelor of Science in accounting from Florida Atlantic University.

Iafigliola serves as President and CEO at Amerant Bank, Florida's bank of choice. He chairs the board of Amerant Investments and also serves on the board of the Orange Bowl Committee. He earned a degree in Economics from Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela and a master's in finance from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (IESA).

Palmer is the retired Chief Operating Officer of Stiles and continues to serve on the company's Board of Directors. During his tenure, he oversaw organizational strategy and multiple operating divisions, including construction, architecture, property management, realty and marketing. Under his leadership, Stiles Construction secured major design-build, independent contracting and development projects, helping establish the company as one of South Florida's largest construction firms.

Berry is founder and CEO of Health Business Solutions, a performance-based revenue cycle management company, and brings more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience. He previously served as Florida's regional administrator of behavioral healthcare for the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services and has served on the North Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners since 2018, including as Chairman during the COVID-19 pandemic. Berry is also a founding member of Florida Girls Giving Back.
