This is How Much Coach Spo Gets Paid Per Miami Heat Win

We all love how well the Heat is doing, and so does Coach Spoelstra. But how much money does Spo make per win?

Whether you're a die-hard Miami Heat fan or not, you still live in Miami-Wade County. If you do pay attention to basketball, you probably know that the Heat are definitely playoff contenders this season (thankfully). But have you ever wondered just how much head coach Erik Spoelstra makes per win or even the cost per win for the whole team?

If you have, you’re in luck. Moneypenny, an answering service company, came out with an analysis on the most overpaid NBA coaches and teams. To find the numbers, the company says they looked at coach salaries, team payrolls, and win and loss records over the last five full seasons of play to determine how much each win costs different NBA franchises.

When looking at the Heat, head coach Erik Spoelstra is the sixth highest-paid coach per win. His salary is $3 million and he has a 0.510 record with the team, making his cost per win $120,603.02. However, for a team he's lead to three championships and was basically the father of "The Big Three" (Chris Bosh, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade), I'd say he should be further down the list.

The coaches in the top three slots are Rick Carlisle of the Dallas Mavericks with a $200,000.00 cost per win, Greg Popovich of the San Antonio Spurs with a cost per win of $197,841.73, and Doc Rivers of the LA Clippers with a cost per win of $192,307.69. I certainly don’t think any of those men are complaining about their salaries.

The Heat and Coach Spo didn’t make the list of the most overpaid NBA team, but the team overall makes the tenth highest amount for a cost per win. The teams cost per win is based on the players’ payroll over the last five seasons. With a five year payroll of $549,114,463.00, the cost per win for the team is $2,627,341.93. Now that is a whole lot of money.

So, next time you attend a basketball game or buy your favorite team gear, just remember where all that money is going and just how much the coaches and teams make. But, don't stop repping the Heat. We're all a part of Miami-Wade county (even though Wade retired), and we are the Heat Nation.

Go Heat!
