Hurricane Irma: American Air Suspends Flights, Caps Fares
Flights from Florida airports and some Georgia airports have been delayed, and American Airlines is capping some flights at $99.

As Hurricane Irma rips through Florida, American Airlines is cancelling flights for the next few days in some areas. American Airlines released a list of the airports affected as well as a notification of a price cap for flights.
All Florida flights are cancelled until either Monday or Tuesday. Hilton Head, South Carolina (HHH), and Savannah, Georgia (SAV), flights are cancelled until Monday.
American Airlines flights out of Miami will not resume until Tuesday at the earliest, according to the Guardian. The Miami-Dade Aviation Department said Miami International Airport will remain closed until Sept. 12, based on roadway conditions and whether employees can get to work.

Carlos Suarez of WPLG tweeted the list of airports out of operation, which included information on a flight fare cap. American Airlines capped single-leg one-way flights from affected airports at $99 for main cabin flights and $199 for premium cabin flights. The reduced fares last through Sept. 17. Also, until that day, flights returning to these locations will have the $99 fare cap.

- Daytona Beach (DAB): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Destin/Fort Walton Beach (VPS): Limited impact on operations
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Fort Myers (RSW): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
- Gainesville (GNV): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Jacksonville (JAX): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Key West (EYW): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
- Melbourne (MLB): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
- Orlando (MCO): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
- Palm Beach (PBI): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Pensacola (PNS): Limited impact on operations
- Tallahassee (TLH): Operations cancelled through Monday, Sept. 11
- Tampa (TPA): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
- Sarasota (SRQ): Operations cancelled through Tuesday, Sept. 12
