Hurricane Irma: Miami Trash Pickup Resumes

The city of Miami is resuming regular trash pickup now that Irma has passed.

MIAMI, FL — If the garbage has been piling up from your hurricane Irma provisions, relax. The cavalry is coming on Thursday. By cavalry, we mean city of Miami trash trucks. The city announced that they are clear to resume operations.

"Regular garbage collection (not recycling) will resume Thursday Sept. 14th for those who are normally scheduled on Thursdays," according to Miami city officials. "Recycling collection cannot resume until the plant reopens." Officials said that green trash containers should be placed outside away from vehicles and other objects.

The city stressed that pickup is contingent on the ability of trash trucks to be able to access pickup areas.
