Kid Stew TV Series Featuring South Florida Kids Wins Three EMMYs

Public Television Children’s Series KID STEW Co-Produced by Best-Selling Author James Patterson and South Florida PBS Multiple Winner at NATAS Suncoast Chapter Emmy Award

Winner in “Children’s/Youth/Teen” for Three Episodes

The public television series KID STEW, a co-production of best-selling author James Patterson and South Florida PBS for elementary school kids celebrating imagination and creative expression, won three Emmy ® awards at the NATAS Suncoast regional chapter ceremony in Orlando on December 14 in the category “Children’s/Youth/Teen for episodes in the series’ second season. All six episodes of the series’ second season were nominated in the category “Children/Youth/ Teens” program for the team of James Patterson, Frank Costantini, Brian Sitts, Scott Barnett, Johanna Vega and Tim Malloy. The series represented six of the eight nominations in the category. Luke Nappe of Miami Beach, one of the series’ nine pre-teen cast members, was nominated in the “Talent – Performer/Narrator” category. Presenting station and co-producer South Florida PBS received a total of 18 nominations this year and nine awards. Season one of KID STEW garnered seven nominations in 2018 and won five EMMY ® Awards – in the category Outstanding Children’s Program for all four Season One episodes and in the category Talent for co-star Armando Bernal IV. The series’ third season is slated to debut on public television stations in May 2020.

In addition to 2019 EMMY ® nominee Nappe, the kids cast in season two includes Florida residents Armando Bernal IV, David Bolinger, Caroline DeLeon, Nicholas Hernandez, Madison Maxwell, Blake McCall, Milena Rivero, and Satine Sorensen, and their mascot dog, Ozzie. They time travel, conduct interviews with famous creatives, host newscasts, explore the science behind joke shop classics, virtually globetrot, star in parody commercials, perform in music videos, read to animals, and more kid-tested, teacher-approved fun.

In the EMMY®-winning episodes, the Kid Stew cast time travel to meet Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, and Pablo Picasso; interview authors Judy Blume, Soman Chainani, and Peter Brown; learn the science behind trick birthday candles, how art affects the brain, and more fun facts; perform a revolutionary take on the American Revolution, and more.
