Line Worker Electrocuted, Killed While Working On Power Lines: MDPD

A subcontracted line worker was electrocuted, died after a live wire touched his vehicle, causing it to ignite, Miami-Dade police said.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — A line worker died after being electrocuted in an industrial accident on Wednesday morning, according to a Miami-Dade County Police Department news release.

The subcontracted worker was electrocuted around 9:40 a.m. while servicing lines in the area of SW 107th Avenue and 162nd Street.

The live wires made contact with his work vehicle, causing it to ignite, police said.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to extinguish the fire and to bring the victim to Jackson South Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The MDPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating the death of the worker, whose name hasn’t been released.
