After Choking Woman With His Shoelace At MIA Bus Stop, Man Faces Charges: Police
A Miami man, 27, was charged with attempted murder after using his shoelace to choke a woman at an airport bus stop, police said.
MIAMI, FL — A man removed a shoelace from his shoe and used it to choke a woman waiting at a Miami International Airport bus stop Sunday around 2 p.m., Miami-Dade police said.
Aaron Kali Quinones, 27, of Miami was charged with attempted felony murder, police said.
The entire incident was caught on video surveillance footage from the bus stop, according to the arrest affidavit.

Quinones used the shoelace to choke the victim from behind as she sat on a bench at Miami International Bus Stop 13 at Northwest 25th Street and 38th Avenue, police said. As she struggled, he jumped over the bench, continuing to choke her with the shoelace around her neck, police said.

He then got on top of her and “beat the victim repeatedly” when she tried to defend herself, police said. When she screamed for help, an unknown witness helped get Quinones off her to stop the attack and held him back, police said. A security officer on duty at the bus station also assisted the victim.

Quinones was able to break free from the witness and ran from the scene, police said, but officers found him a few blocks away and arrested him.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue treated the victim on scene.
Investigators want to speak with the witness, who was not on scene when they arrived. Anyone with information about the incident or who may have been victimized by Quinones should call the Airport District police at 305-867-7373.
