Massive Anaconda Gets Physical Exam At Zoo Miami

How do you give a massive snake a physical examination? Very carefully and with a lot of help.

As part of Zoo Miami’s preventative medicine program, a nearly 100-pound green anaconda measuring more than 13 feet, was brought to the zoo hospital Thursday for a physical exam.

It took several people to carry the massive constrictor while the Animal Health team collected blood, took X-rays, examined the mouth and eyes, and performed an ultrasound, according to Zoo Miami Communications Director Ron Magill.
