Mayor Levine Cava Cuts Her Salary By 20 Percent
The recently sworn-in mayor's salary will drop from $250,000 to $200,000.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — Recently sworn-in Mayor Daniella Levine Cava will cut her salary 20 percent, her office said in a news release. Her salary will decrease from $250,000 annually to $200,000.
"At this time of economic hardship for our community, we need to make sure we are using all County resources wisely to keep Miami-Dade on a stable financial footing,” Levine Cava said in a statement. "As chief administrator of the county, I'm doing my part to ensure we are putting resources where they are needed most.”
In 2019, the previous mayor, Carlos Gimenez, who was recently elected to take over the District 26 U.S. House seat, requested the $250,000 salary for himself – a salary of 67 percent, the Miami Herald reported at the time. This was after he slashed the mayor’s salary from more than $320,000 to $150,000 in 2011, the year he was elected to the position, reports said.
