Miami Beach Topped List of Spring Break Posts but Fort Lauderdale had More Drinkers

The report looked at more than 250,000 Instagram posts and more than 10,000 photos.

MIAMI BEACH — Everyone knows that drinking is a big part of spring break but one group has actually sought to quantify it — through social media posts.

Funded by a California-based provider of addiction treatment resources, ProjectKnow determined that Miami Beach saw the most spring break-related Instagram posts during last year's spring break.

But it was the city's northern neighbor — Fort Lauderdale, that led the list of posts that mentioned drugs and alcohol.

"We wanted to know just how prevalent drugs and alcohol are during spring break activities, so we studied over 250,000 Instagram posts and over 10,000 Instagram photos with the hashtag #SpringBreak to see which locations are the most popular and how often illicit substances are featured or mentioned," the report states.

Harlingen, Texas came in second while Miami Beach ranked third for the most spring break posts that mentioned drugs and alcohol.
