With COVID-19 Surge, Miami-Dade Opens 2 New Testing Sites, Expands Hours AT Zoo Miami
Zoo Miami will now be open 24 hours a day for coronavirus testing during the current COVID-19 surge, Miami-Dade County said.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — In response to the increased demand for COVID-19 testing, Miami-Dade County has opened two new testing sites and extended hours at Zoo Miami, the county said in a news release.
The new testing sites are located at:
- Youth Fairgrounds at Tamiami Park, 10901 SW 24th Street, Miami, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily
- Dolphin Station Park & Ride, 11897 NW 12th Street, Miami, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily
Meanwhile, the Zoo Miami testing site at 12400 SW 152nd Street in Miami is now open 24 hours a day.

COVID-19 numbers continue to increase across Florida. Just shy of 47,000 new cases were reported in Florida Wednesday, breaking the state's record for the number of cases reported in a single day, according to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to data from the Florida Department of Health, the state saw a new case positivity rate of 13.8 percent and 125,201 new coronavirus cases from Dec. 17-23.
In Miami-Dade County, there were 52,428 new COVID-19 cases and a 16.6 percent positivity rate reported during this period.
“We are working around the clock to make sure Miami-Dade residents have access to testing to protect themselves and their loved ones during the holiday season,” Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said. “We are extending hours and opening new testing sites, and we also distributed 152,000 take home rapid test kits to respond to the increased demand for testing. Our residents are doing the right thing by getting tested if they were exposed, have symptoms, or to take extra precautions during the holidays, and that’s why we are doing everything we can to expand access to testing countywide.”
