Miami-Dade Waste Collection Backed Up Because Of COVID-19

With so many workers out sick with COVID-19, Miami-Dade County won't be able to complete Tuesday's scheduled waste collection routes.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — With more Department of Solid Waste Management employees out sick than normal because of the rapid spread of COVID-19, waste collection in Miami-Dade County is backed up Tuesday.

The department will likely be unable to complete all Tuesday routes, the county said in a news release. Residents and business owners whose waste isn’t collected Tuesday as scheduled should leave their green waste cart out so it can be picked up Wednesday.

“We apologize for the inconvenience and greatly appreciate your patience as we continue to work to serve our community despite the disruptions caused by the pandemic,” the department said.
