Miami Ranks Among Top 10 U.S. Cities To Ring In New Year

If a trip to Times Square isn't in your budget to ring in the New Year, you might as well stay closer to home.

MIAMI, FL — If a trip to Times Square isn't in your budget to ring in the New Year, you might as well stay closer to home. Personal finance website WalletHub compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 25 key revelry indicators. The Miami area ranked among the top 10 best cities to welcome in 2018 and bid adieu to 2017.

"The data set ranges from legality of fireworks to average price of a New Year’s Eve party ticket to forecasted precipitation for Dec. 31," according to the website.

Miami ranked third in the country for its nightlife options on the big day, second for restaurants per person and first in gourmet food stores per person. It also ranked sixth for the legality of fireworks and fourth for walkability.

New York, Orlando and Atlanta topped the list of the best places to spend New Year's Eve followed by Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego and Chicago.

The worst places to spend New Year's Eve were North Las Vegas, which finished in dead last; Fremont, California; Newark, Hialeah and Irving, Texas, according to the study.
