Missing Teen’s Body Found Near Pelican Harbor Marina: Police

MIAMI, FL — The body of a missing teenage girl was found Sunday afternoon near Pelican Harbor Marina, Miami police said in a news release.

Police responded to 1200 NE 79th Street just before 5:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate the death of a female who body was found in the area.

The victim was later identified by family members as 16-year-old Diani Gomez Sanchez, investigators said. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced her dead on the scene.

Gomez Sanchez went for an early morning run Saturday around 6 a.m. She was reported missing that evening, around 8:30 p.m., after not returning home, police said.

The investigation of her death remains ongoing, police said.
