Construction is under way on a new home for Opa-locka police. Ground was broken on Friday, July 30, 2021 in a ceremony attendeed by State Representative Dr. James Bush III, the City of Opa-Locka mayor, manager, police chief and commissioners.

Rep. Bush was responsible for obtaining $1,125,000 dollars from the state in House Bill 3181 during this year's legislative session to go towards construction of the new police headquarters.
