After Months-Long COVID-19 Treatment, Officer Goes Home From Hospital: Miami Beach Police
In July, a Miami Beach police officer was hospitalized with COVID. He was surprised by family, friends when he was finally released Monday.

MIAMI, FL — A Miami Beach police officer was finally released from the hospital Monday after months-long treatment for COVID-19.
Officer JC Sampedro was hospitalized with coronavirus in July, Miami Beach police said. He spent 11 weeks in the intensive care unit, where he was intubated and placed on a ventilator.
As Sampedro left the hospital in a wheelchair Monday, he was surprised by family, friends and coworkers.

“I can’t thank you enough. Your prayers were heard. Definitely, there’s a big man upstairs and he pulled through for me and my family,” the emotional officer said in a video shared by police.
Sampredo, a former U.S. Marine, has served with the Miami Beach Police Department since 1996.

He’ll continue his rehabilitation at home, police said.
