MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — An officer wrangled a gator he spotted wandering a Miami-Dade County neighborhood and tied it to a police cruiser, according to multiple reports.
The gator was roaming around the Kendall area near SW 136th Street and 97th Avenue, CBS News reported.
Though Officer Manuel Orol called for backup, he restrained the nearly 7-foot gator on his own.

“Right in the front, just tied off to the thing right there,” he told WSVN. “It’s an actual tow rope. It’s a soft rope. I was able to lasso it around its legs.”
Orol told Local 10 News he made “a split-second decision” to lasso the gator and keep it off the streets.
The reptile was eyeing a brown cat nearby, so the officer sprung into action.

"That's someone's pet. That's someone's animal,” he said.
Other officers and first responders eventually backed him up and they draped a towel over the gator before they pinned it down and taped its snout.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission also responded to the scene. The gator was taken away by the FWC in a pick-up truck, reports said.
