Proud Boy, Former GOP Candidate Arrested In Capitol Riot: Report

Gabriel Garcia, a member of the Miami Proud Boys who ran for the state House, was arrested for storming the Capitol Jan. 6, reports said.

MIAMI, FL — A member of the Miami Proud Boys and a former GOP candidate for the state House was arrested Tuesday for participating in the storming of the U.S. Capitol building Jan. 6, the Miami Herald reported.

Gabriel Garcia has been charged with engaging in acts of civil disorder, entering restricted grounds, and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, reports said.

The 40-year-old Proud Boy uploaded a series of videos of himself inside the Capitol during the siege to Facebook, reports said.

In one video, he said, “We just went ahead and stormed the Capitol. It’s about to get ugly.”

In a reference to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, another video shows Garcia yelling, “Nancy, come out and play!”

He said, “Free Enrique,” a nod to Miami Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio, who was arrested days before the riots, reports said.

The criminal complaint also states that Garcia called U.S. Capitol police “f***ing traitors” and yelled, “USA! Storm this sh*t!”

He was granted a $100,000 bond and will go to trial in federal court in Washington, D.C.

A former U.S. Army captain, Garcia ran to represent District 116 in the Florida House last year.
