Richest Place In Florida Has $310K Average Income: Ranking

PALM BEACH, FL — A city in Florida climbed up the top 50 spots on Bloomberg's 2020 Richest Places in the U.S. list. Bloomberg has been compiling the ranking, based on average household income, since 2017. Atherton, California led the list for the fourth year with an average household income of $525,324.

Palm Beach jumped 17 spots from a year ago to No. 18 on the list with an average household income of $314,090. Last year the city ranked No. 35 overall.

Bloomberg evaluated nearly 6,300 U.S. locations with at least 2,000 households, ranking them by average household income. Towns on the list came from 16 states, a balance of wealth that Bloomberg wrote "remains largely unchanged over time."

California led the country with 23 towns, followed by New Jersey with 16, New York with 12, Illinois with 11, Texas with eight, Maryland with six and Connecticut with four.
