South FL Man Blows Hand Off In Fireworks Accident

Though the Broward County man rushed to a nearby hospital, he accidentally left his missing hand behind, reports said.

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A Florida man blew off his hand in a fireworks accident in Lauderdale Lakes early Saturday morning.

The accident happened just after 1 a.m. in the 4400 block of North State Road 7.

Though he was immediately taken to a nearby hospital by friends, first responders realized that he left his missing hand behind. They found the hand and brought it separately to the hospital, according to NBC Miami.

The victim’s friend told Local 10 News that doctors were unable to reattach the hand.

The friend also described the accident, telling the news outlet, “As soon as he light it, it went off in flames. He was in shock, but he was calm. It was like his hand was bleeding, we put ice, we tied his elbow so less blood flow.”

Another witness told 7News, “It wasn’t even like five minutes, ’cause as soon as he lights it, it exploded.”
