PEMBROKE PINES, FL — A South Florida teacher was attacked by a 5-year-old student in an incident last week that resulted in the teacher being hospitalized, Pembroke Pines police confirmed to Patch on Monday.
Police found the teacher sitting against a wall in a "weak and dazed" state, according to a police report obtained by Patch. The teacher was blinking and breathing normally but was unresponsive when police attempted to talk with her. The teacher was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and has since been released and returned home, according to police.
The identity of both the student and teacher are redacted in the report, and their identities are being protected by privacy laws, police said.

The attack at Lake Pines Elementary School occurred just after 10 a.m. Wednesday. The student has not been arrested and no charges filed, though the Pembroke Pines police are investigating the incident, authorities said.
Witnesses told police the student was disrupting the classroom by throwing objects and flipping chairs, leading the teacher to take the child to a "cool down room," where the attack happened, according to the report.
