AT&T Rolls Out 5G in Miami

AT&T now offers access to 5G in a total of 355 markets in the U.S., covering more than 179 million people

The AT&T 5G network is now live in Miami. Miami is one of 28 new markets – including West Palm Beach, Melbourne and Orlando – to launch AT&T 5G, making AT&T 5G service available in a total of 355 markets, covering more than 160 million people. And additional 5G markets are in the works as AT&T continues a path towards nationwide 5G coverage this summer.

5G provides increased bandwidth, more connectivity, and less buffering and interruptions, which is important with more and more customers consuming content on their mobile devices, especially videos.

Also, in parts of some markets, AT&T has enabled dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) technology. Simply put, DSS allows carriers to share the same channel between both 4G and 5G users simultaneously. It turns up 5G without turning off LTE – creating a seamless experience for users. It all so enables us to deploy 5G faster and more efficiently so customers can take advantage of 5G technology sooner.

AT&T delivers the 5G experience to both consumers and businesses by deploying two types of 5G technology:

  • 5G over sub-6 spectrum is expected to enable faster responses over broader distances on new devices and is now available in 24 Florida markets
  • 5G+ delivers ultra-fast speeds and response times, capable of 1+ Gbps, using 5G technology and new millimeter wave spectrum, unlocking unprecedented experiences in iconic destinations and key venues. It’s ideal for businesses, universities, hospitals and sports venues and is currently deployed in parts of 35 markets nationwide, including Miami, Miami Gardens, Orlando and Jacksonville.
