West Point Cadet On Spring Break In FL Accidentally Drowns: Academy
No foul play is suspected in the West Point cadet's death Monday in Fort Lauderdale, police said.

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A West Point cadet, originally from Pleasanton, California, accidentally drowned Monday while on leave during a spring break trip in Fort Lauderdale, the U.S. Military Academy said Tuesday.
The academy said Havin Morris, 21, served in the Corps of Cadets and was committed to serving in the Army.
"The entire West Point Community offers our heartfelt condolences to the Morris family,” West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Steve Gilland said in a news release.

Fort Lauderdale Police said no foul play is suspected in Morris' death, which appeared to be an accidental drowning, according to the release.
The Fort Lauderdale Police and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are cooperating on the investigation, the academy said.

Maj. Rebecca A. Gogue, Morris’ tactical officer, described him in the release as a "bright, resilient young man with a determination to succeed in all he did."
A casualty assistance officer was appointed to support Morris' family, the academy said.
"The entire West Point community will continue to support Havin’s family, friends and teammates," the academy said.
