What’s Open, Closed On MLK Jr. Day 2022 In Miami

MIAMI, FL — On Monday, residents and businesses in Miami will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Miami-Dade County.

Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

Miami-Dade County government offices: All offices will be closed Monday.

Transportation and Public Works: Metrobus, Metrorail and Metromover will operate on its regular weekday schedule.

Solid Waste Management: There will be no garbage of bulk trash collection on Monday. Waste collection for Monday customers will take place on their next regularly scheduled collection day, which is Thursday. Curbside recycling collection will take place Monday. Administrative offices will also be closed.

Miami-Dade County neighborhood trash and recycling centers: All will be closed Monday.

Central, West and Northeast Regional Transfer Stations: Closed Monday

North and South Dade Landfills: Open Monday

Resources Recovery Facility: Open Monday

Miami-Dade Public Libraries: All public libraries will be closed Monday.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools: All public schools, and regional and district offices closed will be closed Monday.

City of Miami government offices: All city offices and facilities will be closed Monday.

City of Miami Solid Waste Department: The department will be closed Monday. There will be no garbage, bulky trash or recycling services. Normal operations resume Tuesday. Residents should hold their garbage and bulky trash until their next regularly scheduled pick-up day.

City of Miami Mini Dump Facility: Closed Monday.
