Nearby condo residents worry about helicopter noise and quality-of-life impacts, while commissioners are demanding sound tests and more negotiations before deciding whether to change zoning rules to allow the helipad.
   

• Juveniles spat on, attacked and robbed couple who refused to buy candy in Miami Beach, police say (wsvn.com) — A couple was surrounded, spat on and robbed Thursday night near 16th Street and Collins Avenue after refusing to buy candy from a group of juveniles, according to Miami Beach Police. One 16-year-old suspect is in custody and the woman's stolen purse was recovered, but the incident highlights growing concerns about aggressive street soliciting around Española Way.
   

• New Florida law may end Miami Beach's official Pride role (miamiherald.com) — Miami Beach leaders are rushing final rounds of funding to Miami Beach Pride and the local LGBTQ chamber before Florida's new anti-DEI law takes effect on January 1, 2027, cutting off city support. The law could also bar officials from riding in fire trucks or marching in an official capacity, leaving organizers to rethink how the 2027 parade will look and be financed.
