17-Year-Old Arrested After Crime Spree Spanning 4 Counties: Sheriff

A 17-year-old teen is facing multiple charges after being accused of taking part in a two-month crime spree spanning four counties.

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A 17-year-old teen is facing multiple charges after being accused of taking part in a two-month crime spree spanning four counties.

After eluding capture for weeks, the teen was finally apprehended Wednesday by a Pasco County sheriff's K-9 team following a short chase, according to a report from the Hernando County Sheriff's Office.

Since May, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office said it has been investigating a series of crimes occurring throughout the Ridge Manor area.

While investigating a series of burglaries in the area of McKethan Road and Treiman Boulevard on June 24, Hernando detectives developed a lead on a person they believed not only burglarized homes in Hernando County but had broken into homes in Sumter, Citrus and Pasco counties as well.

The teen will be charged by Hernando detectives with multiple counts of burglary of a structure, burglary of a dwelling, auto burglary, burglary of an occupied dwelling, grand theft auto and dealing in stolen property.

Other law enforcement agencies are interviewing the teen to close cases in their juridictions as well.
