18-Year-Old Charged With Child Abuse, Burglary

An 18-year-old New Port Richey woman was arrested Thursday after being accused of burglary, child abuse and resisting arrest.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL —An 18-year-old New Port Richey woman was arrested Thursday after being accused of burglary, child abuse and resisting arrest.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Xerena Lynn Elliott of 11th Street went to a home with an unknown male Wednesday night and knocked on the door. A teen answered the door and the male asked to borrow a cup of sugar.

When the teen opened the screen door to respond, deputies said Elliott punched her in the face and then entered the home without permission.

The teen and her mother recognized Elliott from school and notified the sheriff's office. When deputies attempted to arrest Elliott, they said she pushed and pulled away from them.
