Car Crashes Into Bedroom, 3 Injured

The driver fled the Port Richey scene, but was later brought into custody and booked into the Land O' Lakes Jail.

PORT RICHEY, FL — A Tuesday night crash in the Port Richey area has sent three people to the hospital and a motorist to jail.

According to Pasco County, the incident unfolded before 10 p.m. at 6826 Sandalwood Drive. A vehicle driven by Robert Alan Doty, 22, crashed into the home, striking a bedroom wall, an email from the county said. Two of the home’s residents were sleeping at the time.

County officials say both residents and a passenger in the vehicle were injured in the crash. A female resident from the home and a female passenger in Doty’s car were both transported as trauma alerts. The male resident of the home was also taken to the hospital in stable condition, an email from Pasco County spokesman Doug Tobin said.

As for Doty, he fled the scene after his vehicle came to final rest completely inside the home, Tobin said.

Law enforcement officials did catch up with Doty. He was brought into custody and booked into the Land O’ Lakes Jail after receiving medical clearance.

The crash remains under investigation by the Florida Highway Patrol. No other details, including the charges Doty faces, are yet available.
