4 Teens Injured When Car Strikes Golf Cart In Pasco County

A 14-year-old girl was driving the golf cart when it collided with a Nissan Maxima, ejecting all four teenagers, according to FHP.

WESLEY CHAPEL, FL — Four teenagers were thrown from a golf cart Friday when it collided with a car at a Wesley Chapel intersection, leaving two girls seriously injured, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at Overpass Road and Watergrass Parkway around 8:20 p.m.

According to FHP, a 14-year-old girl from Wesley Chapel was driving an Ezgo golf cart eastbound in the left-turn lane of Overpass Road when she tried to turn left onto northbound Watergrass Parkway under a flashing yellow arrow.

The golf cart entered the path of a westbound Nissan Maxima driven by a 38-year-old Wesley Chapel man, and the vehicles collided, police said.

All four teenagers were ejected from the golf cart.

The 14-year-old driver and a 15-year-old girl from Odessa suffered serious injuries and were taken to a hospital, according to FHP.

Two 13-year-old boys from Wesley Chapel suffered minor injuries and were not taken to a hospital.

Police said the Nissan driver was uninjured.
