5 Things You Should Know Today, Dec. 10
It's a day for chowing down with Santa, hearing holiday music and parade watching.

1. Even a jolly elf has to eat, and the is having breakfast with The Clauster from 9-11 a.m. Santa and his helpers will have pancakes, eggs, sausage, juice and coffee at 9409 U.S. 19 in Port Richey. Breakfast is $4 for 10 and above, $3 for 6 to 9. Children under 5 eat free.
2. There’s the Snowflake Natural Beauty Pageant starting at 10:30 a.m. for children up to 4 years old with check in 30 minutes earlier. The pageant for those 5 years and older starts at 1 p.m. with check in at noon.
The girls will not have glitzy outfits or fake hair. Those 4 and under won’t have makeup and older contestants may have only light makeup.

The pageant will be at the Days Inn & Suites, 10826 U.S. 19, Port Richey.
3. For some holiday music, Gulf View Square has its Choir Festival with performances from Benjamin Rupe Band, Fox Hollow Elementary Choir, Anclote High School, Suncoast Pentecostal, Hudson Middle School Jazz Band, Fivay Jazz Band and Gulf Highlands Elementary Choir.

The music starts at 11 a.m.
4. Starting at 6 p.m., New Port Richey lights up with its 35th Holiday Parade through downtown. The parade starts near Gulf High School and ends at Main Street and U.S. 19. The lead marchers should be at the end about 6:40 p.m. and Santa bringing up the rear should arrive at the finish about 8 a.m.
People begin securing their places on the route early. Very early.
5. Patch.com is launching a nationwide contest to find the best-dressed home in its Patch communities with the winner’s public school district to receive $100,000, no strings attached.
Here’s how the contest works. Through Dec. 26, you can nominate your home by uploading a photo to the contest entry form on the site. During that same time period, you and your neighbors will also be able to vote for your favorite festive home. The winning entry will be forwarded to a national Patch judge who will select 24 finalists. Each finalist will receive $500 to apply toward their December electric bill.
From Dec. 30 through Jan. 8, you will be able to vote for the Best Decked House in all of Patch. The grand prize winner’s school district will receive a $100,000 check from Patch.
