TRINITY, FL — It was the type of Halloween tragedy that law enforcement agencies fear. A 6-year-old child was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in serious condition after being struck by a pickup truck while trick-or-treating Thursday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 7:33 p.m., Nicholas Formico, 61, of Port Richey was driving a Ford F150 north on Starkey Road approaching Town Center. The 6-year-old boy was out trick-or-treating along with other children and their parents when he began walking across the marked crosswalk.
