74-Year-Old Port Richey Man Killed During Carjacking
A 74-year-old man is dead following a carjacking that ended in a crash on Saturday.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- A 74-year-old man is dead following a carjacking that ended in a crash on Saturday.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 5 a.m. on April 27, Hermel Rene Levesque of Port Richey was unloading items to sell at a flea market at St. Marks Church when his Ford Explorer with a utility trailer was stolen while he was still inside the trailer.
The accused thief headed east on State Road 52 and lost control of the Explorer near Nature Trail. The Explorer with the trailer struck a palm tree and overturned. Levesque died at the scene.

The carjacker was taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
Charges against Morales are pending.
