PASCO COUNTY, FL — In what's become a regular occurrence on U.S. 19 through Pasco County, a 79-year-old Clearwater woman was killed while trying to cross the road Tuesday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, around 7:30 p.m. the woman was crossing U.S. 19 just south of Springer Drive when she was struck by a sports utility vehicle driven by a 45-year-old Hudson man who was heading north on U.S. 19.

The woman died at the scene.
