8-Month-Old Nearly Drowns After Being Left In Bathtub

An 8-month-old baby was seriously injured after being left alone in a bathtub with running water.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL — An 8-month-old baby was seriously injured after being left alone in a bathtub with running water.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrested Rhianna Everett, 24, of Brooksville after deputies said she left the baby in the tub with the water running for several minutes. The child suffered serious injuries and nearly drowned as a result.

The baby was found under the water, unconscious with blue lips, and had to be resuscitated. The baby is now in intensive care. Doctors say the baby had a seizure as a result of the near drowning.

The child was not in a bathtub safety device at the time.

Everett was charged with child neglect with great bodily harm. Her bond was set at $10,000.
