America's downfall?

We as a country were doing wonderful for a few hundred years.  Even during the burning times we grew and prospered. We took a stand against religious intolerance and put an end to ignorance.  America as a country flourished. 

It wasn't until the 1900's when that changed.  Our founding fathers kept God out of politics for a reason.  The reason being they wanted religious freedoms.  They weren't all catholic, baptist or any one particular religion we were and still are a multi religion country.  

Something changed, religious leaders became involved in politics and changed things.  We started to call ourselves a "christian" country, that no other religion matters.  We started to try to force biblical rules and ideals in what books were allowed to be read, leading to book burnings.

Now we have a minister, here in Florida, who insists on burning the Quaran because of what SOME of its followers have done to us as a country.  I don't accept what those followers have done to us, but it is not right to insult others beliefs.  It definitely is not right to burn their religious books. 

We see the secular violence in other countries and blame their beliefs for it.  Why do we as a country blame their beliefs as the reason.  The one reason, the same one that is leading this countries downfall, is religious intolerance.  Those countries are trying to force ONE religious belief onto everyone in their country. 

Isn't that similar to what we are trying to do here?  Are we not trying to force others to follow christian biblical teachings.  Yet we pick and choose what we want to follow.  If we don't like what the bible says we don't follow it.  So many pick and choose what to follow all while screaming that we are a christian country. And we wonder why God is upset with us.

God is upset with us because we have decided, as a country, to judge people based on their religious beliefs.  God sent many messengers here to help us as the human race.  We humans in turn, actually men, have taken those ancient messages and teachings and turned them into the many religions that we have today.

I don't have all the answers, but I do know that so many are turning away from mainstream religion.  My church is one of those places that so many are turning to.  We are what this country use to be, we are all inclusive and welcoming, for that is what God truly has wanted for this great country of ours.  It's what is necessary as a race.  No one religion has all the answers.  

No one religion is right just as no one religion is wrong.  For who are we say and judge why God brought so many paths to us.  Once we learn to embrace the love for all that was the founding foundation of this country, we will continue a downward spiral as a country.  Book burnings will start back up again and secular violence will arrive in this country worse than any terrorist act has hurt us in the past.  It's time we wake up and embrace the differences among us.
