PORT RICHEY, FL — A suspicious device found inside a vehicle during a Thursday morning traffic stop prompted the temporary closure of all southbound lanes of U.S. 19 in Port Richey, the Pasco Sheriff's Office said in a social media post around 10 a.m.
Deputies discovered the device during a traffic stop on U.S. 19 near State Road 52, prompting authorities to temporarily shut down southbound lanes from Beacon Woods to SR 52 as a precaution.
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad responded to the scene and took possession of the device for further inspection, the sheriff's office said in an update to its original post.
All lanes of U.S. 19 have since reopened.
