Bicyclist Killed Crossing U.S. 19 In Hudson

HUDSON, FL — A 31-year-old Hudson bicyclist has died after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon at U.S. 19 and Hudson Avenue.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:28 p.m. Heather Burlingame, 36, of Hudson was driving a Nissan Juke south in the center lane of U.S. 19 approaching the intersection of Hudson Avenue with a green light.

The bicyclist, Joshua Allen Petitt, was crossing the southbound lanes of U.S. 19 and rode into the path of Burlingame's vehicle. Petitt later died at Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point.
